CRITERIA ANNOUNCED FOR INVITATION TO THE

2000 MASTERS WATERSKI TOURNAMENT

 

Orlando, Fla., Nov. 30, 1999—The Masters Committee has released the following information regarding criteria for invitation to the 41st Masters Waterski Tournament to be held May 26-28, 2000 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Invitations to compete in the Masters are issued to only the world's most elite athletes for competition in traditional 3-event waterskiing, awe-inspiring ski flying, and the ever-popular and spectacular wakeboarding.

Upholding 40-years of history and traditions, and the Masters Waterski Tournament's reputation as being the most elite waterski tournament in the world, the 2000 Masters tournament includes the excitement of the more extreme ski flying and wakeboarding events. The Masters Committee has worked diligently to ensure that only the best in the world compete at the 2000 Masters. To this end the following criteria has been established for invitation to this 41st Masters:

  1. 1999 Masters Event or Overall Champion
  2. Official World Record Holder as of May 15th of the Masters Year
  3. 1999 World Event or Overall Champion
  4. Top 5 on final IWSF Tricks World Ranking List, as published by March 1st of Masters Year
  5. Top 3 on the final IWSF Overall World Ranking List, as published by March 1st of Masters Year
  6. Winner of any World Cup Tournament Event, including Tricks and Overall, May 15, 1999 through May 15, 2000.
  7. Top 5 on the 1999 Final World Cup Points Standing List
  8. Top 3 on the 1999 Final US Pro Tour Standings List
  9. 1999 Gravity Games and 1999 SeaWorld Wakeboard Big-Air Champions
  10. Top 5 Pro Ski Flyers, by distance in ski fly competition.
