16Jun12 Asian Beach Games Preparations Complete At Haiyang, China

Bringing together the family of IWWF Asian Federations and following the success of the 2010 Asian Beach Games in Muscat, preparations are well underway for the 3rd Asian Beach Games in Haiyang, Shandong Province, China. Located some 90 minutes drive from the 2008 Olympic Sailing Centre in Qingdao, it is a spectacular location with ideal competition conditions.

A total of 13 sports will compete during the Games scheduled for June 16/22 with 49 gold medals at stake for the sports involved.

Waterskiing / Tricks and Wakeboard were included in the 2nd Asian Beach Games in Muscat, Oman. Both are included this time again, including both men and women.

On that occasion Tricks were dominated by Kim Dong-Eon (KOR) and Song Yufei (CHN). In Wakeboard, the gold medals went to Bunyalo Jumruang (THA) and ChenLiLi (CHN). Approximately 70 trick skiers and wakeboard riders will compete over three days on June 20/22 for four gold medals.

With the support of the Haiyang Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (HABGOC) and Nautique, the trick event will be pulled by a 2012 Ski Nautique 200 CB, whilst the wakeboarders will ride behind a 2012 Super Air Nautique 210. Nautique are also providing regional and USA technical support.

Unlike in Oman where the competition was held on the open sea, the Haiyang venue offers flat calm water, located at the Jiulong Lake Reservoir in the Zhaohu Mountain National Forest Park. The site will be shared with dragon boat racing whose competition commences on June 17th and concludes on the 19th.

The official opening ceremony commences on Saturday the 16th of June with a closing ceremony bringing the curtain down on the Games on the evening of Friday, June 22nd.
