19Sep08 IWSF Tournament Council meets in Orlando

The IWSF Tournament Council met for its annual rules review in Orlando, Florida on September 13-14. Current and proposed rules were examined by the Council for inclusion in the 2009 IWSF Rules.

A summary of the most significant changes is as follows:
1. 3 Segment jump timing will be mandatory starting May 1, 2009 with the following conditions:
a. A new simplified chart will be published
b. Times will be recorded for all speeds and submitted with tournament results
c. Meeting the 52m time in addition to the 82m and 41m times is mandatory for jumps greater than 65m
d. Meeting the 52m time in addition to the 82m and 41m times is mandatory for an Open Women jump record application
e. based on the submitted times, the chart will be finalized with any needed changes for the 2010 season

2. A new trick, the FFLF which consists of a 180 back to front followed by a front flip has been added under a new trick number at 850 points

3. The entry to the World Championships from the World Ranking List has been expanded to the following:
Mens Slalom 20
Womens Slalom 15
Mens Jump 20
Womens Jump 15
Mens Tricks 20
Womens Tricks 15
Top 10 in overall, Men and Women

4. The women's start speed/length in the finals was changed from 16m to 14.25m
The men's start speed/length in the finals was changed from 14.25m to 13m

5. Trick Course lengthened to 230m

6. The World Championships will be seeded according to the IWSF Ranking List. It will still be broken into seed groups, but the placement in the group will be by seed rather than by random draw.

7. Clementine Lucine's record application of 8840 was denied (Rule 15.19 b)
