The World Barefoot Council have approved a new World Men's Barefoot Slalom record of 20.6 points. The "Gliding Soles" of USA's KEITH ST. ONGE have finally broken Brian Fuchs's record which has stood solid for nearly 12 years. Not to be outdone, South African Junior Marvel HEINRICH SAM has set a new World Junior Barefoot Slalom Record at 19.2 points which as also been approved by the WBC. That record was held for over 8 years by the USA's Jason Lee. Both records were set at the same tournament down in sunny South Africa back in early January 2006 at the Gauteng North Barefoot Championships. Keith's record came from his round one score of 21.2 while Heinrich's was reduced from 19.8. Both record applications had to endure the rigorous scrutiny of the WBC's Records Review Committee headed by WBC Member Richard Gray who commented that "these 2 guys have taken the sport to new boundaries - right to the very edge of the envelope."
